Companies in 2013

Today in writing this story, I do not view my present employer as I do below. This is only how I have come to view companies over the last 15 years. Today, the general population seems to be floundering around and not part of an era that believes things could be better. This lack of in betterment comes from fear, the media, a disconnect from family, and smaller income. The fear from how the world is changing so rapidly and terrorism. The media shows so many images of bad, ugly, and depressing pieces of the news. Many families are disconnected in relationships and distance. Many families income has not changed much over the last ten years if you have been actively working in the same positions for the same companies. I have had the opportunity to sit through a few classes lately and have come to the conclusion that American workforce must demand more from companies and prove at the same time their own validity and commitment to these companies. Companies today treat their employees like the employee is just an expense. Somewhere the concept of exchange if I produce more or better products by working hard and being creative will payoff has been loss. After 911, companies treat employees as they are dispensable and replaceable at the snap of a finger due to high unemployment. This in turn creates an atmosphere at work that loses knowledge and empowerment.  A company ends up with a large new employee base that is not connected and has not grown to believe in the company. The employees with longevity that would have loyalty start breaking down and foster negative attitudes because now there is disconnect in the workforce due to the companies not even being aware of this change. Companies need continue to challenge employees and build relationship to build commitment to common goals of the company.  One of the biggest changes I have notice is companies to not involve families. The just make the employee feel like family is nothing but a cost for medical insurance. Companies should continue company picnics, Christmas Parties, softball teams, and retreats. America needs a change!!!
