Sliding Rock and Brevard NC

What a fun day we had after we left our cabin. We traveled hwy 64 to Brevard then to 276 and visited Sliding Rock Icy Cold Water. The kids begged to go through the line again and again
. Poor Stuart he hates being cold but was a tropper and took them as they had wished. Gann, Ty, Jacob only made it a few times saying it was too cold. Then were were off back to TN and stopped at Moes to eat.

No Sleep for me

Tonight is our last night in the small town of Cashiers, NC. I developed a cold of some type on Wednesday morning. I can not ever remember being allergic to any one particular thing. The deck has really nice rectangular flower boxes every 8 feet. There is one particular white weedy flower that filled my nose and I started sneezing. Well, when your in the mountains it is difficult having a running nose and itchy eyes. I tried to be happy and then on Thursday and Friday it just got worse. My head aches and my teeth. Every time I blow my nose my head pounds. So, I am up and just finished a book called a 1000 days. I started the book yesterday and wanted to finish it. Stuart wants to drive to Brevard tomorrow and take the kids to sliding rock??? I want to, although I slept 3 hours last night. This sinus business has me down. Then reality will hit and I will be slightly depressed that I must go back to work and that the kids school will start in about two weeks. We hiked to a waterfall a very short hike it was beautiful reminded me of DuPont Park. The kids in their bathing suits and we had on shorts and T-shirts. John was walking along side of a rock. I yelled at Stuart who was closer and said you better grab John. The waterfall was so loud John could not hear us calling for him. He took one more big step and went straight down in the ice cold water and I scream at Stuart. John did not panic though thank goodness he grabbed a rock and pulled himself up. Anger and fear swelled up in him and he went and sat on a rock by himself. You could see the panic on his face and he wouldn't talked to us. Kids need to be fearful and learn from their own mistakes. It is hard not to embrace them and cuddle them. John lost his eight tooth after dinner last night. I have heard that is not good for you to lose your teeth early. Ashley lost hers really slowly. John will have to have braces for sure.

Lake Whisper in Cashiers in NC

Well, I could live here in the woods paint, read, walk, swim, fish, and enjoy the beauty that god has made. I am more relaxed than I have been since Ashley was born almost 9 years ago. I just turned 42 and it is not bothering me at all. I do want to travel and do more in my life and more for my family. I want their eyes opened and want them to grow and learn. There was a famous quote that talked about how busy we are with routine and life that our brilliance and genius only is made is a few short hours everything else is life.

My Kids!!

Clouds July 18th 2011

I am and I hope my sweet children are having a wonderful vacation. We got up early and traveled over to Sapphire Valley resort. The kids went swimming and had a blast. John told a man swimming in the pool that his older brother, Jacob, had gotten bitten by a bear last night. So, how do you explain that your 17 year old brother was telling a fib to see if a six year old would actually believe that big of a story. The man look at me and said really? Boy, well anyway Jacob cut his leg bad on a pier and then his chin shaving. That is were the story started developing. Then the boys took John out fishing at 10:00pm and he was in heaven being one of the big boys!! They caught a nice size catfish. They just took John fishing in the canoe. Ty gave him a hat that looks like the big yellow hat from curious george except its army green. Ashley is running around in a navy bikini dancing and having a great time all we need is Stubaby.

Whisper Lake, Sapphire NC

We are vacationing in Cashiers, NC in Sapphire Valley Resort on Lake Whisper. The trees that surround the home remind me of gaint hemlock that almost touch the clouds. The sky reflecting off the lakes surface. We tried to explain to the kids that this is Whisper Lake so please be quiet but it did not work. Had fun fishing with the kids and cooked a great meal.

Ashley had her cast taken off today. I thought it would be easy but she vomited all over the exam room. The doctor said it was shock. Yuck!
